We offer specialist training within various aspects of understanding SEND and are a CPD accredited Specialist SEND Consultancy. Our head of training and development has a Masters degree in SEND and has worked in education for over 25 years as a teacher and school leader, in both mainstream and specialist settings and has designed training courses for global training providers, universities and local authorities. Our dedicated SEND training team have a mix of backgrounds and experience within education and care; supporting children, their families and professionals who wish to improve their SEND provision.

Paul Bray

(BA PGCE NPQH MEd) Training Lead at SEND International is an Ofqual regulated Safeguarding Trainer, Thrive Practitioner, and Principal Team-Teach Tutor with over 25 years of experience at every key stage of education, within both mainstream and specialist SEND provision.

He has experience of developing International School Links with Vietnam and UK on behalf of The British Council. Paul has also provided support for families internationally as a speaker for the South African based ‘It Takes a Village’ conference. Paul is a member of Plymouth Marjon University’s Professional Advisory Group and has taught on the Special Educational Needs and Disability Studies degree course. He has become renowned for his work in supporting individuals and families to navigate the difficult transition into adulthood, particularly for those with special educational needs. He has been a speaker at the National Association of Colleges conference, The National Children’s Bureau conference, and the World Education Summit. Paul was a speaker and delivered a workshop at the Global Education Systems & Solutions Conference in 2022. He is also appearing as a panellist on GESS Talks ‘Safeguarding in Schools’ Webinar in 2023. Paul wrote his first Special Educational Needs resource book in 2021 for international publishers, Routledge. He has designed and developed training packages for SEND International, Team-Teach, parent groups, and professionals in education, health, and social services, including Local Education Authorities. Paul has been featured in numerous publications, including the National Association for Special Educational Needs (NASEN) and The Guardian newspaper. Overall, Pauls aim is to make a positive difference in schools particularly for children with SEMH, SEND and those who have suffered Trauma.

Claire is a passionate advocate for all young people with Special Needs. With a diverse background in Management and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by young individuals, Claire has dedicated her life to making a positive impact in their lives.

Claire’s journey began working in the aviation industry for an International Airline then, as a singing teacher for a music charity, where she recognized the power of music as a tool for empowerment and self-expression. She witnessed first-hand how it could transform the lives of young people, particularly those with Special Needs. Motivated by teaching young people in Primary and Special Schools in the UK, Claire then worked tirelessly with young individuals on the verge of exclusion for a prominent Manchester-based charity. Her compassionate and empathetic approach helped these young minds overcome barriers and find their path to success.

Claire’s commitment to uplifting young people extended beyond her professional endeavours. She showcased her passion and talents as a performer in an ABBA tribute band, using her musical abilities to raise funds for a Primary school music project she managed in the North West of England. Her efforts not only supported the project but also provided countless young individuals with access to the transformative power of music. Currently, Claire serves as the International Manager for SEND International (part of SEND Recruitment), where she plays a pivotal role in recruiting specialist staff for UK and International schools. Her extensive experience and deep understanding of the unique needs of individuals with Special Needs enable her to connect the right professionals with the right schools, ensuring the best possible support for these young minds.

Claire is also a Specialist SEND Trainer and goes above and beyond to share her knowledge and expertise. She delivers training programs both internationally and, in the UK, equipping educators and professionals with the necessary tools to create inclusive and supportive environments for young people with Special Needs. Claire’s dedication to empowering others through education is unwavering. Furthermore, as a mother of two teenage boys, Claire understands the challenges faced not only by young people but also by their parents in the 21st century. This personal experience provides her with an invaluable backdrop and deep empathy, further fuelling her passion for supporting young individuals and their families. Claire’s unwavering dedication, extensive experience, and empathetic nature make her a truly exceptional advocate for young people with Special Needs. Paul Maguire

Paul has striven tirelessly throughout his career to transform the lives of the young people that he has worked with. Many have experienced serious levels of neglect, trauma, abuse, violence, drug and alcohol misuse and significant mental health issues.

He forged and maintained strong and positive relationships with other agencies and professionals that he has worked with; teachers and heads of mainstream schools, PRU’s and SEND schools, providers of alternative educational provisions, social workers, youth justice services, CAMHS etc.

Paul worked in residential social care for 30 years. He is a qualified social worker graduating from Durham University with an MA in Applied Social Studies and a DipSW.
For 25 years Paul was the registered manager of a local authority children’s home. He achieved and maintained an Ofsted rating of ‘Outstanding’ on over twelve occasions. As a result of this the parliamentary education select committee visited his home and it was mentioned as an example of best practice in parliament. Following on from this Paul was invited to Whitehall to be interviewed by Sir Martin Nary for his review of residential care in England.

Paul has delivered high quality training in several different sectors and has now dedicated himself to passing on his 30 years of knowledge and experience to others.
